After a successful 2-day festival in March 2010, the British Council and the Oxford University Press, Pakistan are all set to have the second Karachi Literature Festival, this time round too opening doors for some more renowned authors to Pakistan. The festival, first of its kind in the country, provides the opportunity for Pakistan to be recognized as a country that is intellectually sound, rich in culture & creativity. It will be an excellent platform for intercultural dialogue – as there is growing global interest in writing from Pakistan, and established and emerging Pakistani writers have garnered local and international critical acclaim. The Karachi Literature Festival will also be promoting young writers through a short story writing competition and another competition for deciding the name for the festival in 2012. 2011 is declared the year of the great poet, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Karachi Literature Festival will be giving tribute to him during the festival..
